My name is Wouter Meijer, born in 1968 in the city of Groningen, the Netherlands. I started playing classical guitar  when I was eight years old. My tutor was Willy Bleeker, a renowned guitarist in his time.

I've been writing and playing songs in various rock bands for a long time. A few years ago I started writing music for classical guitar.
In 2025 I won gold prize and excellent creativity special prize at the Debussy International Music Competition and silver prize at the Satie international music competition.
Composers who have influenced me are (among others): Villa-Lobos, Albeniz, Vicente Amigo, Chopin.

Ik ben Wouter Meijer, geboren in 1968 in Groningen. Ik speel klassiek gitaar sinds mijn 8e jaar. Mijn leraar was Willy Bleeker, in zijn tijd een vermaarde gitarist in Groningen.

Ik schrijf en speel al heel lang muziek in verschillende rock bands. Een aantal jaren geleden ben ik  begonnen met het schrijven van stukken voor klassiek gitaar.
Ik won in 2025 de gold prize en excellent creativity award special prize bij de Debussy International music competition en silver prize bij de Satie international music competition.
