Rendering 5 - The “John Coltrane Variations” - for Soprano Saxophone and Piano Or with organ or improvising piano or soundscape
When Johan van der Linden asked me to compose a work for soprano saxophone and piano,
we both expressed our great admiration for the work of John Coltrane on the soprano saxophone. So the decision was quickly made to compose a tribute for this great jazz saxophonist.
Later Johan asked me several times for a modified version, This resulted in a solo version with a soundscape,
a version for soprano sax and organ and also a version to play with a jazz pianist,
