Friesische Melange in Wien

Friesische Melange in Wien is a piece for symfonic orchestra. It is written in the key of G minor and A minor in april 2013 by composer Arjan Kiel.

It starts of with a Slavic theme, played by the clarinet that pops up every now and then followed by the minor waltz first maintheme in the cellos. Later repeated by the higher strings, building it up to an almost caricatural straight waltz in B flat major, the second maintheme, yet again melancholy ending in the Slavic theme in the main key of G minor. The first main theme repeats, and continues through the rest of the instruments, ending again in an almost frantic tutti second maintheme.

What follows next is in the beginning a very quiet, mystical rhythmic third maintheme, with harp, flute and soft staccatos and pizzacatos in the strings, which repeats itself and becomes more and more intense, with heavier rhythmic accents. The first main theme tries to push itself through it a little more and more, and wins in the end, taking over the third maintheme. After the modulation, both themes exist side by side, and after a fierce ritardando, the first main theme returns. The caricatural second main theme returns again, now in in C major and then ends in an emotional davistation...
