Harry's Study [English Version] - for the young pianist
Rudi Tas was aware early on that classical music can be quite intimidating for children. By presenting music in an understandable and imaginative framework, it can inspire a love that lasts a lifetime.
In his two-volume collection Diary Notes, or the collections Daydreams and Little Dance Preludes, lively and colourful miniatures are arranged in progressive difficulty. This gives young pianists the opportunity to improve their skills in attractive, accessible music, some of which is surprisingly haunting and powerful.
The piano piece Harry's Study has to be indisputably linked to the character Harry Potter. Tas wrote it for a child who was clearly passionate about music. Yet he lacked the dedication to study the piano regularly.
The composer presents the piece as a piano study that includes 'black arts' and 'magical trapps'. There are even 'griffon fingerings' required to be able to play the study masterfully and flawlessly. This piano piece had to be rehearsed to be admitted to the wizarding school...
Numerous music and art academies included the piano piece as a compulsory work for second-degree exams.
