The Rik Wouters Suite is written for the classic wind quintet combination (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon). It consists of 5 movements, based on 5 works by Rik Wouters (three paintings and two sculptures). Like the paintings by Wouters, the musical language is colorful and voluptuous.DAME IN HET BLAUW VOOR DE SPIEGEL (lady in blue in front of a mirror) was created in 1914 and can be considered as a synthesis of his oeuvre. The music relfects on the radiancy of this painting.
