Program Notes
for solo natural horn in E-flat or modern horn
Lauds was written in early 2019 for the Graduation Festival of the composition department of the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. Lauds centres around the calls of the horn; announcing the dawn that is approaching. The Lauds dates back to Apostolic times as a morning prayer, with the arrival of dawn symbolising the resurrection of Christ. This piece was written in close collaboration with natural horn player Nicolas Roudier.
