Luc Bataillie (Kortrijk, 1958) studied solfège, music history, harmony, counterpoint and fugue at the Hogeschool Gent. He also obtained diplomas in violin, viola and music pedagogy. 

He became a professor at the University of Science and Art (Lemmens Institute) in Leuven and was director of the Municipal Music Academy in Oud-Heverlee from 1988 to 1991. Since 1986 he has taught part-time art education and the music academies of Tielt and Woluwe-Saint-Pierre. In 1978 he was also co-founder of Het Orchidee Ensemble. From 1982 he became active as a freelance violinist, viola player, choirmaster and chorister. He is also a church organist in the parish church of De Pinte.

He wrote about fifty works for all kinds of line-ups, chamber music, songs and orchestra. His disc style is mainly eclectic but has developed over the years into a clearly personalized and recognizable style. Since 1989 he has also been part of the Woluwe composers group.
Luc Bataillie is a member of the composers' association Composers Archipelago Flanders (ComAv). He became a three-time laureate of the VerDi quality mark composition competition, in 2006, 2013 and 2018.

Luc Bataillie (Kortrijk, 1958) studeerde studeerde notenleer, muziekgeschiedenis, harmonie, contrapunt en fuga aan de Hogeschool Gent. Daarnaast haalde hij nog diploma's in viool, altviool en muziekpedagogie. 

Hij werd professor aan de Hogeschool voor Wetenschap en Kunst (Lemmensinstituut) te Leuven en was van 1988 tot 1991 directeur van de Gemeentelijke Muziekacademie in Oud-Heverlee. Sinds 1986 geeft hij les in het Deeltijds kunstonderwijs en in de muziekacademies van Tielt en Sint-Pieters-Woluwe. Daarnaast was hij in 1978 medestichter van Het Orchidee Ensemble. Vanaf 1982 werd hij actief als onder andere freelance violist, altviolist, koordirigent en koorzanger. Ook is hij kerkorganist in de parochiekerk van De Pinte.

Hij schreef een vijftigtal werken voor allerlei bezettingen, kamermuziek, liederen en orkest. Zijn schijfwijze is vooral eclectisch maar ontwikkelde zich in de loop der jaren tot een duidelijk gepersonaliseerde en herkenbare stijl. Sedert 1989 maakt hij ook deel uit van de componistengroep Woluwse componisten.
Luc Bataillie is lid van de componistenvereniging Componistenarchipel Vlaanderen (ComAV). Hij werd driemaal laureaat van de compositiewedstrijd VerDi-keurmerk, in 2006, in 2013 en in 2018.
