Alone in a Boat The contemplative narration of the double bass floats in the calm landscape of soundtracks created with a synthesizer. The atmosphere is foggy, mysterious and dark, but not scary. The solitary contemplative is in dark waters as at home, but deep in thought. I composed this monologue at the request of Mikko Multamäki. He has performed my music the most versatile of all musicians since the mid-80s, when he was the bass player in my progressive rock band for the first time. Since then, he has played my music in chamber ensembles, a string orchestra and a symphony orchestra, as well as my jazz band Peppe Jalava Band on two albums and, of course, also at concerts. Our latest collaboration was the Double Bass Concerto "Sinuhe" in the repertoire of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra in the fall of 2023 and Pori Sinfonietta in spring 2024.
