A flashy work with a romantic middle section for wind band
This work was written as a gift to Walter Siol, who had been the conductor of Volharding Steenbergen for 27 years. This composition is therefore a reflection of his character. It starts with a flashy opening, a cheerful first theme with a stubborn streak here and there. There follows a transition with an honorable signal and a story veThe middle part shows us his love for music, with passion he devotes all his spare time to music. The middle section is followed by a fugue borrowed from J.S. Bach. The underlying idea is that despite the multiple themes mixed together, it still forms a whole. A reflection of the musical organization that Siol has built for so long. The work is relieved with the reprise of the first part, the circle is complete.
