Armenian rhapsody (symph. band)

ARMEENSE RAPSODIE / ARMENIAN RHAPSODY opus 190 (2023)

The Armenian Rhapsody consists of these sections:

Lamentation music I - Dance 1 -  
Lamentation music II -  Dance 2A -  Dance 2B                       
                    
The lament music is derived from the work ‘Lamento e Trionfo’ for fanfare orchestra, 
which was made in the style of the Armenian lament music for the duduk.

The first dance is oriental in character in complicated irregular time signatures.
The Dance 2A is a dance with a repetitive theme, and drum accompaniment that slowly develops into a dramatic FFF climax.
De Dance 2B is a vibrant, more cheerful piece in 12/8 time that ends with an exciting apotheosis.

In opus 190 I have tried to incorporate authentic Armenian folk music / Armenian ethnic music,  derived from authentic Armenian folk dances.
The score mentions the names of those dances .
In the Introduction of the score you find mentioned on which etnic piece (from youtube) the passage in the Armenian Rhapsody is based.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
