Klezmer for Tuba Quartet (two euphoniums, tuba in Eb, tuba in Bb)
This three-part piece was originally written for The Dutch Tuba Quartet. The piece describes three moments of a traditional Jewish wedding.
I - Sherele
Sherele is a traditional Jewish weddingdance. Despite the title no Sherele will be heard here. Instead we hear a musical reflection of the thought of the groom to be. He is the verge to take this big step in life. Soon he will be expected to dance the Sherele with his bride. After that dance his life will never be the same. Is he willing to take that step? Will he dance the dance?
II - Freylekhs fun der Khupe
This weddingmarch, with its trills, triplets and lightfooted, almost dancelike cadence sets the mood for the upcoming festive occasion.
III - Der Khusid geyt Tantsn
Forgotten are the initian thoughts and doubts of the groom! His jacket hangs over a chair, his tie dangles off his neck All sweaty he dances to the exiting sounds of this music into a bright and happy future.
