The Rik Wouters Suite is written for the classic wind quintet combination (flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon). It consists of 5 movements, based on 5 works by Rik Wouters (three paintings and two sculptures). Like the paintings by Wouters, the musical language is colorful and voluptuous.DE STRIJKSTER (the ironer) from 1912 is a feast for the eye. The windows are wide open, the sunlight streams in. The music refelcts on the radiant painting.
