FANDANGO COLONIAL Clarinet Quartet - Arrangement by Everardo García
The fandango is a hybrid musical genre that extends throughout the American continent. It originated from African influences and Caribbean popular culture, and is characterized by being an ancestral model of popular dance music and melody and sung dance. During the colonial era, the fandango was a brotherhood in which diverse cultures coexisted, transcending the boundaries of social classes. Its popularity began to increase from the 18th century.
Cipriano Pérez Serna was a prominent Mexican musician born in Zaachila, Oaxaca, on September 16, 1871. He died on August 31, 1956 in the city of Oaxaca. From an early age, Pérez Serna dedicated himself to musical study, developing his talent as a prolific clarinetist, composer and arranger.
