Two duets for Violin and Cello
Two Tides is a set of two pieces for violin and cello. Both pieces make use of the open strings to give a simple and rural character to the music. It was written for the IJsselbiënnale, where it was part of an art installation at the Pouwel Bakhuis pumping station in 2021.
Pouwel Bakhuis lived with his brother Lammert on the farm "Distelenbrink" in Marle. They were both musical and one played the violin and the other the cello. They performed regularly and gave concerts.
