Portrait of an illusionist - clarinet solo & fanfare orchestra
This virtuoso composition for solo clarinet and concert band gets its inspiration from the spine-tingling escape acts of world-famous illusionist Harry Houdini.
After a dreamlike introduction, the clarinet soloist starts his/her own escape attempt in a rock-style composition influenced by the Blues and Irish folk music.
This arrangement for fanfare, written in 2022 by the composer himself, was commissioned by Excelsior Papendrecht and conductor Ruud Welle.
The world premiere took place on January 14, 2023 in Theater De Willem in Papendrecht.
