Version Fanfare Orchestra with optional improvisation(s) for alto saxophone
The dancing Derwish from the soefi culture are the inspiration for this composition. After an Arabic sounding intro, there is an optional improvisation part. One or more players can improvise their prayer. Eastern percussion instruments embellish the improvisation part providing an arabic and spiritual atmosphere.
After the prayer you hear an exciting dance. In this fast part a typical Balkan 11/8 and 12/8 alternate, the 12/8 being played in the common way and in the flamenco subdivsion. Towards the end, we hear a Balkan celebration. The piece ends with an accelatering dance causing us into trance, just like the dancing Derwish monks.
