Brass Band
'From San Marco Quarter' is a musical tribute to the composers of the Venetian Renaissance and Baroque and refers to these composers and the diverse styles in which they wrote their compositions. The title of the work refers to the oldest district of Venice, San Marco. This district was the center of the city's rich musical life. In the Renaissance and Baroque times, in addition to St. Mark's Basilica, this district also contained many other churches, palaces and theaters where all that fantastic music once sounded and still sounds. Many composers and musicians lived and worked in the streets of this district.
'From San Marco Quarter' was composed for the Dutch Brass Band Championships. The work was used for the 1st Division and was premiered during the NBK on October 30, 2021 in Muziekcentrum Tivoli Vredenburg in Utrecht.
