Biography
Joop van Dijk (Utrecht, 1961) studied basstuba, contrabasstrombone and conducting at the Utrechts Conservatorium from 1978 to 1984. From 1980 tot1995 he was working as a freelance tubaïst en contrabasstrombonist with all the Dutch symphonie orchestras. Furthermore he played with the Schönberg Ensemble, the ASKO Ensemble, the New Ensemble and the Dutch Brass Sextet. From 1987 to early 2013 he played was the solo tubaïst and composer with the Marine band of the Royal Netherlands Navy.
As a composer Joop van Dijk is self-taught. He specializes in composing for brassband, concertband and fanfareband. Many compositions he wrote were used as test pieces with national and international contests and many of his pieces are recorded on cd.

Van 1980 tot 1995 was hij werkzaam als freelance tubaïst en contrabastrombonist bij alle Nederlandse symfonie orkesten. Daarnaast maakte hij als tubaïst en contrabastrombonist deel uit van het Schönberg Ensemble, het ASKO Ensemble, het Nieuw Ensemble en het Haags Koper Sextet (Dutch Brass Sextet). Van 1987 tot begin 2013 was hij solo tubaïst en componist bij de Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine.
Als componist is Joop van Dijk autodidact. Hij is gespecialiseerd in het componeren voor brassband, harmonie orkest en fanfare orkest. Veel van zijn composities werden gebruikt als verplichte werken bij nationale en internationale concertwedstrijden en werden opgenomen op CD.
